Almost every pet owner has faced a situation when something is going wrong and you do not know what to do with all that. It is 11 PM and it is too late to go to a regular vet hospital or call your friend for help. In such a situation you can always rely on an animal emergency clinic to get a consultation from experts or professional help.

There is no bad time

If you really love your dear pet then you have to understand that there is nothing embarrassing in calling a veterinarian. Most animal emergency clinics have doctors on-call or can provide you with referrals to another emergency pet hospitals. In the matter of fact, all accredited hospitals usually provide 24-hour access to any type of emergency pet care (including laser therapy), either in their facility or through references to other hospitals.

Remember, you know your pet like no one else! If you see that it behaves in a weird way you may think that something is wrong. In this way it is highly advised to call your veterinary or any animal emergency clinic to get a professional consultation. You can ask a few questions and even come for a visit. Even if you get no result and understand that it was a false alarm, you will still be glad to have the mind at ease.

Sometimes there is no need to call to an animal emergency clinic because you are certainly sure that something is wrong. If you notice anything from the following list, immediately bring your pet for emergency care.

  • The pet is unconscious.
  • Your pet has severe vomiting or diarrhea for more than a day.
  • Any suspect of broken bones.
  • Seizures.
  • You see bleeding from the eyes, mouth or nose.
  • You see signs of extreme pain.
  • Your pet is disoriented.
  • Your pet’s abdomen is swollen.
  • The delivering process of your pet has gone more than 3-4 hours between the delivering babies.

What to do

If you see any of the above symptoms or feel suspicious about any serious problems, always directly touch with an animal emergency clinic. And here leaving messages or voicemails is UNACCEPTABLE.

The first step is to call your personal veterinarian. As a rule accredited animal emergency clinics will always have a person answering the phone
24-hours a day or if there is no person you will get a recorded message which will refer you to another emergency hospital. If you are in an unknown city, you can check the accredited hospital in a special locator tool to find an accredited hospital close to your location to get an appropriate laser therapy for the pet. The Canadian Red Cross also provides first aid for pets to help you find a veterinarian in case of emergencies.

A very important thing to remember! When you decide to bring your dearest pet for emergency treatment, always be sure that you know where you are going and how to bring your pet there in a safe way. For example, if you are not sure about the place you are going then even simple dog laser therapy may appear to be dangerous! In case you have some questions about any issues concerning your ill or injured pet, never hesitate to call the hospital and ask!
